October 13: Fall Foliage Painting
Taking inspiration from the landscapes of Canadian women artists featured in the exhibition Through Her Eyes, young artists will look to the changing leaves of fall to create a study of warm colours using fluid acrylic paints.
October 20: Found Material Planters
To celebrate the launch of Mat & Lucas Glenn’s courtyard exhibition Creative Growth Centre for Spiritual Nourishment, young artists will explore environmentalism by creating a personalized planter using found and salvaged materials.
October 27: Trick or Treat Bags
Everyone’s favorite Halloween treat is back for another year! Using a selection of professional printmaking supplies, a traditional press and spooky embellishments, little artists will create a custom cotton tote bag perfect for collecting treats.
November 3: Zen Patterned Landscapes
Learn a whole new approach to drawing landscapes, inspired by the artists featured in the exhibition Through Her Eyes. Participants will use black outlining pens and dry media to create a unique take on scenery featuring intricate patterned designs.
November 10: Solarpunk Terrariums
Inspired by the eco-conscious literary movement Solarpunk, young artists will create terrariums from reused and salvaged materials referencing Mat & Lucas Glenn’s courtyard exhibition Creative Growth Centre for Spiritual Nourishment.

November 24: Exploring Watercolour Resists
Based on the bold black lines and vibrant colour used by the late artist Daphne Odjig, participants will use oil pastels and watercolour paints with a resist painting technique to create a frame worthy masterpiece.
December 1: Watercolour Constellation Lanterns
Bring cheer to this year’s Downtown Light Up with a shimmery lantern inspired by constellations in the night sky. Participants will work with glass jars, watercolour paper, and watercolour paints to make a glowing keepsake lantern complete with an electric tealight candle.
December 8: Tiny House Ornaments
This week young artists will transform cardboard, Japanese decorative papers, fluid acrylic paints and seasonal embellishments into a collection of festive tiny house ornaments inspired by snowy suburban scenes.
December 15: Gingerbread Masterpieces
Baby its cold outside, so join us indoors for a sweet afternoon of gingerbread cookie decorating followed by creative free play with an assortment of drawing materials. *while quantities last
December 22: Furoshiki Fabric Gift Wrap
Create a colourful printed piece of fabric to wrap up holiday presents! Participants will discover the Japanese gift wrapping technique called Furoshiki and use a selection of stamps and block printing inks to print onto pieces of fabric.
December 29: Polar Bear Value Painting
Explore a wintery palette of cool colours and shimmery metallic paints while learning the fundamentals of creating tints and shades. After experimenting with colour mixing, young artists will be guided through painting a wintery polar bear scene.
